WKIU is licensed to Tupelo 2000, Inc. which is a 501c(3) non-profit organization established to educate and motivate the youth in the greater Tupelo, Mississippi ... See more community. It went on air in December 2001 broadcasting at radio frequency 94.9fm over the city limits of Tupelo. In May 2011, WKIU changed its frequency to 95.1FM in order to a larger area without interference. With the frequency changed, WKIU began broadcasting over Tupelo, Verona, Shannon, Okolona, Pontotoc, Nettleton, Saltillo, Guntown and the southern part of Baldwyn.
