Buffalo’s campus for over 30 years now. Over the years, the station slowly began losing the interest of students around campus. In 1993, a group of students with the desire to run a radio station got together and began to rebuild WRUB Radio. Since then, WRUB has grown slowly but surely under the supervision of Sub-Board One Inc., the company that owns and operates the station.
In the 2007-2008 school year, WRUB was hit with hard times. With as many DJs as there was staff, the future of the station seemed dark. When the 2008-2009 staff was hired, they felt WRUB was a challenge and happily accepted it. 2008-2009 soon became known as a comeback year for the station. WRUB went from 15 DJs to 60 DJs by the end of the school year. New show ideas flooded the station, bringing back listeners and inviting new ones to see what their campus’ station was all about. Shows like Everyday Korean, a show hosted all in Korean, to Reel Nerdy Talk, WRUB’s first ever movie critic show. These are two examples of DJs who used their creativity to bring listeners to the station from literally all over the world. Now in 2009, WRUB is the strongest it has ever been and plans on getting bigger and better, so keep listening!
