the broadcasting requirements and the transmitter and antenna were located some 30 miles to the east of Hays on the Smoky Hills Television tower.
The station came on the air as a result of the encouragement from local residents to The Praise Network to provide a local Christian radio voice. After several years of planning and waiting for FCC approval, the station finally was able to begin broadcasting with the help of interested individuals who personally loaned money for the project.
KPRD’s purpose is to reach out to listeners in Central Kansas with a non-commercial radio ministry providing Inspirational Praise music, Informative news and family oriented programming, along with strong Biblical Instruction.
Over the years, KPRD-fm has expanded its outreach with translators in Phillipsburg, 91.1fm, Hill City, 107.3fm, Lewis, 103.5fm, and Pratt, 96.1fm.
In 2007, KPRD moved the studios to the Hadley Center, 205 E. 7th Street, Suite 218, in Hays.
Because of the generous financial support of interested listeners and businesses, KPRD is able to continue its outreach to Central Kansas and beyond.
